A note about the Music Appreciation Group:

We have covered a broad history of music, a simple look at common musical forms, music from the Americas, from France, England and Scandinavia. We have looked at many individual composers - Stravinsky, Mendelssohn, Sibelius, Robert Simpson, Debussy to name a few - and had many miscellany sessions led by group members.

Recently a number of our members have left the Island, and so we have a number of places available for new members in the next season. You don’t need any specialised knowledge of music: just an interest in listening to, learning about and enjoying a wide range of music.

A serious commitment to tea, coffee and cake is another strong recommendation!

January Meeting Review

Our first meeting this year, for the hardy souls undaunted by icy roads, was held on Thursday 9th January, and was a landmark 80th session since we began meeting in early 2019.  We had a change-of-programme as so many were unable to attend, and enjoyed music ranging from Gilbert and Sullivan to Tom Lehrer, Elgar to Pentatonix, and Karl Jenkins to VOCES8.
