Do you have an interest in art? The aim of this group is to look informally at art and artists for our own enjoyment, with the format of the group decided by members.

One option is for members to monthly choose an art style, artist, period (e.g. C18th), location (Newquay, South of France), school of art from the huge range of ‘isms’ (e.g. Fauvism, Cubism, Impressionism), women artists (there are many more than may be thought!), and so on; to be discussed at the following month’s meeting.  Members will be encouraged to contribute something on the chosen topic.  

Hopefully this will result in interesting, lively and diverse learning opportunities whilst having fun along the way.  Previous art knowledge or experience is not required, and the breadth of art and artists means there will be something for everyone (it is a very broad canvas pun intended!). The Island itself has a wealth of artistic talent, so once established the group could also consider outings to various exhibitions, galleries, etc.
